I’m Jara (like Sara, but with a J) I’m an AEA actor, singer-songwriter, playwright, and producer. A graduate of the University of Southern California, I’m also an award-winning solo performance artist, having written, produced, and starred in two critically acclaimed one man shows (Ghost on a Stick and King of the Hobos)

My type: a combination of the Cowardly Lion and Sweeney Todd. Deeply playful, but capable of intense, heart-stopping power. Having played Richard III, eight-year-old boys, redneck child pageant dads, Giusseppe Zangara, Hamlet’s stepfather Claudius, Mr. Tumnus, and Admiral Ackbar (to name a few) I delight in the silly and somber.

At the heart of it, I’m a well-spoken fool who peddles odes and nonsense.

I’ll elaborate on those two precepts (odes), and (nonsense) further. For now, let’s just say that everything I do is driven by an intense desire to be passionate and precise (even if the subject matter makes no sense at first)

I believe there’s only two reasons why anyone does anything: either in response to something else, or because the wires have crossed each other, and you’re doing the best you can with the language you have and the madness in your heart.

Love,

Jara
